Today I climbed Mt Sugarloaf, a gnarly lump of granite in Cathedral Ranges NP.
I had forgotten how steep it is in patches and needed to quell rising anxiety. "Get a grip girl. This mountain is just a metaphor for life" I said to myself. And so it was. Ups and downs, a couple of big hurdles and for those I just needed to place one foot slowly in front of the other and not look at the big picture. Then presto, chango, allakazoo, I was at the top - hot, with jelly legs, but what a view! Shimmied back down and found a spot to camp by the river. Setting up camp involved rolling out the mattress in the back of the 4wd - very easy and comfy. Dinner was packaged food - what was I thinking! Next time I must bring homemade pesto!
Lots of nice birds here too!
