Horseweed

erigeron canadensis is a native weed of common field and roadsides. it's presence has increased due to it's herbicide resistence and the lack of diversity in farming. insects are not too keen about it, because its green flowers are very small and dry. what you see in the photo is it's seeds with little parachutes for dispersal.

traditionally, it's oil, oil of erigeron, has been used to treat intestinal hemorrages and was common in treating typhoid fever.
