A Very Scottishness
In Kinloch Anderson's shop and museum in Leith is this French Silk Velvet doublet of 1822. It was made in Edinburgh to be worn when George IV paid a visit - arriving in Leith at the behest of Sir Walter Scott. It marked an acceptance of the wearing of Tartan which had been banned by the British Government after the 2nd Jacobite Rebellion.
George IV was the first monarch to visit Scotland since Charles II in 1651 !!!
Come and stay at my Arthouse and take a five minute walk to see the museum.
I shall make a gallery of more styles on my facebook page - C A Wallace Shaw.
