Bamboo colony

Our bamboo just outside the back door is multiplying rapidly.

I was always fascinated by bamboo from having seen Asian contractors use it as scaffolding on mind-bending heights to indigenous tribes in Latin America only cutting bamboo for domestic use 3-4 days before or after a full moon. If you cut bamboo for building (a fence for example) too early, it will be susceptible to bugs and will be full of water, become damp eventually and then turn into yellow dust.

And all this before I ever really took notice of how beautiful these stalectite-like buds are, bursting out of the moist ground reaching for light to join the elders. Wonderful world this!
