Red Kite with a packed lunch

It wasn't until I got back home and looked at my photos on the computer screen, that I noticed this Red Kite is carrying some prey in its talons. It's hard to tell exactly what but it's certainly some kind of small bird.

I'm really pleased with this shot as it's the closest I've ever got to a Red Kite and considering it was taken with a 400mm lens, handheld, the quality is not bad!
