Tiwanaku
Today were up before 9am, and we didn't even have Spanish class! Well Helena didn't get up until 9 if not a little after, and wasn't impressed at mine and Carina's ability to get out of bed so easily. To be fair to her though she probably didn't have her necessary 9 hour sleep!
We left the house at 10 making our way to El Prado, the main street of the centre to catch a bus to the cementery. We managed to get Saltenas on the way which were excellent. They're a sweet pastry filled breakfast snack which are very common here.
After an hour or so later we arrived at the cementery, met up with a touristy group (an Irish guy, English girl and Canadian guy) and bought return tickets to Tiwanaku. This is basically a world heritage site hosting archaeological ruins which is linked to the Andean/Inca cultures. After reading up a lot about it and hearing good reviews, it was a bit of a let down. Of course it was an impressive site, but it was qutie small with a lot of the stones being reconstructed as opposed to original structure.
Anyways we had a nice little day and the sun even made an appearence making it relatively warm. I learnt a little about the history of the site, which didn't give the Spanish a very good name, and we began working on our video project which is to take the form of this advert. The tour was kind of boring and the museums didn't have too much to offer, but I'm glad I seen the ruins and I'm impressed that we organised our second weekly outing alone!!
Later we made another dinner concoction of baked potatoes, Bolivian cheese, couscous and salad. It was fab - we're getting good at this making-do business ha.
