Puppetmaking skills class
We had a great day with the group today. They quickly picked up the relevant skills related to using willow as a framework, creating supports, and covering the structure. When I've made puppet structures in the past I've used tissue paper and a half and half PVA water mix. It dries really quickly, is lightweight and gives a good base. The majority of the group however chose to use traditional paper maiche (sp?) with newspaper and wallpaper paste. Not only do you have to put your hands in wallpaper paste (yuck!) but it dries very slowly. They've all been left in the stores to dry so they can then take them home and decorate them.
Despite spending a lot of the day, sat down, crafting. I was exhausted by the end of the session!
