Kune Kune

Helped out at The Farm park again today prior to their opening tomorrow. New addition to the Touch Barn was a Kune Kune sow and her 1 week old litter visitors tomorrow will beable to stroke these little things - aaah! I've bred some Kune Kune and they are the friendliest pigs I've ever known.

The Kune Kune, pronounced Cooney Cooney, is a small pig originating from New Zealand and it was almost extinct in the 1970's. Its name in Maori means fat and round.

The Kunekune pig, originally kept by Maoris in New Zealand, are friendly hairy pigs born in a variety of colours.

It is the smallest domesticated breed of pig in the world, a firm favourite among pet pig owners, due to its placid friendly nature and love of human company. Small scale pig breeders enjoy its ease of management and ability to thrive on grass.

Just taken my daughter up to Burford Garden Centre for her to get a Mother's Day present - very thoughtful I know - but it's Father's Day soon as well!
