Turning Point

Plumber's Bum

I was anxiously awaiting the arrival of more deliveries which the plumber requires to progress with the bathroom. I'm actually terrified of him and need to summon up the courage to ask any questions or suggest alternatives. Any delay doesn't bear thinking about.

I was relieved when a man from Palletways tipped up mid-afternoon. He was concerned about bringing his pantechnicon down our driveway. I gave a thumbs up, convinced that he'd make it after hearing that there were two pallets amounting to almost a ton in weight.

I shouldn't have been so enthusiastic because he reversed down at an odd angle from the main road and got stuck almost immediately. The side of the lorry was up against a large bough of a tree which had ripped through the side of the vehicle causing the whole thing to tilt dangerously. Once the driver had managed to pull free from the tree, he wasn't going to make another attempt.

Thankfully Ian was around to help divvy up the load and make several
trips back and forth with the car. Eventually the poor driver was able to get on his way. Fingers crossed, he has an understanding boss.

The heating has been fixed for the fifth time in a month. It feels good to be cosy again..
