The weekend starts now.
A change of routine makes both teachers and students go slightly mad and today was no different. Although to be honest the teachers may have been worse. I had several conversations in the staff room simply declaring that we had no idea what we were doing. The prospect of the the long weekend had definitely got under all of our skins.
My lessons were mostly good. I have to say, sometimes my 10c have too much personality and va-va-voom but they do make me smile. A bonus free lesson was a nice treat and a substitute lesson gave me the chance to catch up with two of my old students.
It was then the time for my first deputy tutor duty, get the students to the Culture House, on time and without any of them escaping for the weekend. I was possibly a little too excited about this new role, I blame the long weekend. We all made it safely to the performance and it was jolly good. 9b have been working hard for weeks and it showed. The performance was to celebrate tomorrow, the day to remember the Hungarian revolution of 1848. A few parts would have made great blips, but I wasn't sure it was appropriate in such a situation. The ending with the students all holding candles in the dark theatre and singing the national anthem was quite a moment.
Then it was back to school for lunch although first we had a surprise meeting in the headmaster's office to congratulate my friend on her hard work on a big maths competition. The head came into the staff room and asked all of those present (about 5) if we like N and when we said yes, he said to follow him. A little bit random but good for my friend to get recognition for her work.
After lunch and some tidying it up for Monday, it was time to go home for some serious laziness. Holiday!
