getting ready for Paddy
Grey rainy day, again today. Yola had a pile of teenagers over after school to 'bake' cakes. She has declared that every alternate Friday will now will be 'Baking Friday'! The shopping list was long, so I went to Skibbereen (nearest Lidl), which is where I spotted this pub doorway.
St Patrick's Day is a very important day in Ireland, with most places having a parade of some sort. All the kids take part and lots of work goes into floats, music and whacky outfits. There is plenty of prep required and banners, cones and green, white and orange anything in all the shop windows is well underway. The Father Raja charity shop in Schull is sporting a bright green pair of horrendous dungerees in the window, that'll be the only time they see the light of day!
Hubs and I went for dinner to Claire and Quentins , salad from their polytunnel with West Cork buffalo mozzeralla, then home produced Organic roast lamb - followed by home made meringues and blackcurrant fruit fool. DIVINE. We came back very late to a very tidy house, probably tidier than we left it. They play the game well and we don't ask too many questions!
A beautiful chocolate cake with cream and strawberries was awaiting us. They'd made one for us too. Thanks Yola, Rachel, Ellie, Dexter, Rauri, Pete, Kasper and Momo.xx
