The Little Lyle Files

A bump in the night

We woke up this morning to discover that some kindly soul had managed to rearrange the wall at the front of the house. According to our neighbour, it was like that when they went to bed last night at 10 o'clock.

Clearly someone couldn't be bothered to drivert the difficult extra 100 yards to get to the point where they can turn with ease and would prefer to turn using our drive at a bend in the road. Naturally, they left a note apologising and advising where we could arrange compensation for the wall (yeah, as if!!!).

Ironically, we got the wall built when we were paying for the repair to our neighbour's wall when one of our guests at a party did exactly the same thing, having reversed into their drive (or missed as the case was) having mistakenly thought it is where we live. They have had their wall knocked down at least ten times due to people using their drive to reverse so it is actually a wonder that this hasn't happened before.

Anyway, I hope all the mothers out there have had sufficient attention and relaxation today. Today has been one of the last of those firsts that crop up throughout the year, being the first Mother's Day without my mum who died last July. We've still got her birthday to go but pretty much all of the annual milestones have passed.
