Celtic Chieftain

The 'Celtic Chieftain' sculpture overlooks the location of The Battle of Curlew fought back in 1599 during the campaign of the Earl of Essex in the Nine Years War.

I passed it on the way to Cromleach Lodge, a hotel near Boyle in Sligo, where my friend P was celebrating his 40th birthday. It was a beautiful day and drive was spectacular. The lodge was in a fabulous location with lovely views of Lough Key, so I decided to change my room to one with a view.

We had a lovely meal with wine and more wine and plenty of chats with old college friends. It was a late one.
