The forgotten heroes

In the past i have blipped war memorials that celebrate the 'non soldiers' who can so easily be forgotten.

This is another one. I love this sculpture in Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester, it is in the shape of a tree and all the way up the trunk it has engraved on it the names of all the civilian war dead of the city. Ordinary people killed in bombing raids during the second world war.

I think its really admirable of a city to honour the ordinary people who kept the country going back at home.
