Dunfermline Abbey
I was doing some pix of South Queensferry at dawn from the Forth Road Bridge and took a turn round the Norman Abbey at Dunfermline. It was dull and flat at that time of the Scottish day; but noticed that it had lights rigged for night display, so I imagined it would look more dynamic in the late evening with a band of colour remaining in the sky; the golden hour, which is really the golden ten minutes. Returning at that time a few days later, setting up tri-pods, picking POV's and judging exposure, filtration and all that tech stuff and waited for the lights to come on. Yes the lights have never worked since the Gala Day of 2008, I found out from a local dog walker. So retuned the next evening with Ian McLean who did the black card thing while I painted the whole thing with flash, I lost count but Ian said it was over 20 flash pops. One more thing, if using a tri-pod on the Forth Bridge the whole thing moves when cars pass behind you, you have to time them, which is murder if you're exposure is about 15 seconds.
