a story about a bear
everything hurts today, my body, brain, my ego.... one of those crappy days...........didn't even plan or stumble across a blip
but here in my room is Moggy's foot print - she's a special little bear - tiny but so fierce and missing her right front foot (probably snared in the wild) - theres a photo of her with me on my profile... she's one of my favorite bears . When I volunteered here 4 years ago she was the first adult rescue along with her friend Mama - ironically also a fierce little bear but missing her left front paw....
the two had lived in cages side by side for years - when we were finally able to release them into a den and then outside they literally fell into each others arms and have been inseparable.... (except for a brief but terrible couple of months earlier this year when they had a falling out..... but we won't talk about that)... they are essentially loner bears who would rather just be left alone (with each other).... unfortunately being a rescue centre aiming to house 200 bears we havn't got room for that so they have learnt to coexist - mostly - Moggy in particular has a bad rep amongst the other bears - certain times of the year they just know to avoid her.....
anyways - these two have started semi-hibernating during winter in the last couple of years - so we let them stay snuggled in their den, eating when they want but basically just sleeping through the winter... spring is now here and they've become more active the last few weeks - so today they were let outside with the other bears.... 3 hours later we heard deafening bear roars and screams - Moggy had bailed up Miracle (at least double her size) and was having a massive rumble.... we all rolled our eyes and said "Moggy's back" and then rushed over to check everyone was ok......
so that was my little story about a bear called Moggy
