Romanian homeless in Bridge- of -Allan

The first time Leotina Muntean stood outside the Co-op in Bridge of Allan selling The Big Issue it came as a shock to local residents.

This is not an area one associates with the homeless.

How come?

Well, I have chatted with Leontina a couple of times and I always make a point of buying a magazine from her.

She is from Romania and she came over three years ago with her three children. They live in Cumbernauld and she travels by bus to Bridge- of- Allan .

Her English is limited but I gather she finds her spot outside the Co-op quite lucrative.

Over the years we have got to know her welcoming smile as she stands there often in the most appalling weather conditions.
