H is for ... House Sparrow
It's the weekend after the Grand Slam before ... all other news has been cancelled today!
The sun was out, and it was an opportunity to get out in the garden and get some bird photos.
House Sparrow numbers in my garden are most definitely up, and every time a female wanders in she is surrounded by amorous males. We had plenty of fledglings last year, so it all bodes well for another good breeding season this year for one our most troubled birds.
There is plenty of breeding activity going on now. We have a Robin pair; the Dunnocks are performing their wing flicking and singing; there is a Magpie nest beyond the hedgerow and walking back from the pub tonight, there was a pair of Tawny Owls hooting from the woods.
The bright weather is set to continue tomorrow, so hopefully I will get some more bird shots for you.
I played around with the creative settings again, and got this funky picture of a Blue Tit.
A classic pose for a House Sparrow in the hedgerow.
A more traditional Blue Tit shot.
And I had a play with the video function again: House Sparrow singing video.
