26th August 1950
As lookseeclick has done a fantastic blip of St Peter Mancroft, Norwich today, I thought I'd share a shot of the inside of the church - although this one was taken nearly sixty-two years ago. The nervous young couple getting married are Peggy and Dick, my Mum and Dad. Also in shot are Arthur my grandad doing a very stern looking "father of the bride" act and my Aunt Margaret sneaking a look at the camera. Next to her is my Aunt Emily. Only Mum and Margaret are still with us.
Apparently Dad was so terrified he could hardly speak and the vicar had to do one word at a time. Even so, after three failed attempts at "I plight thee my troth" they decided to skip that bit.
