Line 161 and you call this a station...

The joys of commuter life.

About 90% of trains (1200 a day if wikipedia is to be believed) in Belgium seem to go through the 'Nord-Midi junction' (or as apparently it is technically known the Line 0) in Brussels and as a result the mornings and evenings are a lottery for those of us travelling in and out of Brussels.

Tonight the direct train to Louvain-la-Neuve was running 20 minutes late so I jumped on the intercity and off at Ottignies. This gave me some time to climb up the stairs of the old footbridge and take this dusky snap of the line 161 (Brussels-Namur) running through Ottignies station.

Ottignies is the second most important station (20,000 commuters a day) in Wallonia (French speaking part of Belgium) although you wouldn't know it from the state of the platforms and the small station building.

A renovation is promised, but then many promises are made just before elections.
