Here Today - Different Tomorrow
The title could be a reference to the weather, though it is not. It has been unseasonably warm and sunny. When I checked on the temperature in the early afternoon it was 17 degrees in Aberdeen.
The photograph is teken on one of the main crossroads in the very centre of Aberdeen. In the foreground there is a statue of King George V, behind him the view looks over the Union Terrace Gardens which fall away from street level towards the buildings in the background.
This view is quite controversial as there was recently a referendum on whether or not to raise the gardens up to street level at a cost of £140 million. There was a narrow vote in favour of making the alterations. The new gardens will have a mix of pedestrianised areas and green areas. I am not sure what happens to the existing buildings which are on the side of the hill. It seems the lower floors will be buried.
The issue of the Gardens has divided opinion across the city. Not sure what it will do to this view, but it will certainly change.
