The Beat Goes On
I took the chance offered by having to hand-deliver some urgent letters this afternoon to cut through Mathew Street en route. As is so often the case there was a gaggle of tourists taking pictures of each other outside the Cavern Club and I took a few quick shots of them but I liked this one best in the end.
The Cavern Pub is opposite the club but is part of the same 'live entertainment complex'. The bricks bear the names of bands/musicians who played the Cavern in its heyday - everyone from Sonny Boy Williamson and Big Bill Broonzy through the Rolling Stones, Yardbirds, Who and Kinks to Queen, Elton John and, er, Wishbone Ash. Oh, and a bunch of local ne'er-do-wells called the Beatles.
I don't know if this bloke was a local or a tourist but he certainly seemed to be channelling his inner moptop.
