Holy Public Transport Convenience, Batman!
The Caped Crusader must qualify for a Senior Railcard by now, so perhaps it is no coincidence that the Wharncliffe viaduct at Hanwell contains within its brickwork what is possibly the largest "batcave" in the South of England. (Probably Daubenton's Bats, but I got that off Wikipedia so don't quote me!)
The viaduct was built in 1836-7 to a design by Isambard Kingdom Brunel (who else?).
Although I think the Glenfinnan & Welland viaducts knock it into a cocked hat, it's still pretty impressive & Pevsner said "Few viaducts have such architectural panache."
Have you a favourite viaduct? Feel free to leave me a link to a picture!
