Creeking

On guard.

Here is my neighbour's chicken. She has no name but my grandson insists we call her Rosie.

Rosie is on guard duty, bright and alert (well on duty) a bit sleepily, under our garden table. It is late in the day and she is just in front of the raised bed containing Matilda and her eggs.

The garden has been busy today with people coming and going and Matilda has hunkered down on the nest and not left it. Although she probably stretched her legs during lunch hour when all was quiet. Throughout the day Rosie has kept close, pausing in her duties only to come and ask me to fill up the seed dish. I was not entirely convinced that Matilda was going to benefit from this but Rosie was so concerned, she even carried out the food test to make sure it was safe for others to eat, not that she left them much!

The picture is not of great quality but I rushed taking it so that I did not upset the birds. It is the only record of their activities so I offer it as today's blip.
