Pats Recipe For Nibblers

Around Christmas, my last aunt/uncle living passed. She was my loving/hard working/stubborn/genuine/giving auntie Pat.

Auntie Pat & Uncle Wally lived in Toronto, while me, my 3 siblings & parents lived in Cobourg.

That wouldn't stop my auntie pat from driving down often to visit for the whole weekend, she would bring plenty of goodies, she spoiled us.

My brother would play chef, give them a menu, which probably only had one thing on it, and he would make them breakfast when they came to visit.

My Uncle was a great man as well. Never ever saw the man upset. My mom said he was one of a kind, the best kind of person. And from what I remember, he was. He used to take me outside, he would enjoy nature & quiet (unlike a high-rise in the city) I would run around frantically yelling at him I'm sure.

Eventually I'd get bored, run up on the deck & say "whaaaatrre you doinnnnn?? arrrre youuuu tirrred???" and he would say "Tired! Of course I'm not tired!"

and i would come back with this fantastic (i swear it works) trance of
"gotosleepgotosleepgotosleepgotosleepgotosleepgotosleepgosleepgosleepgosleepgosleepgoseepgoseepgoseep..."

"ZzzzZZzzzzzZZzzzzzZzzzZ......."

at which point, i would turn his metal (stretch, didn't know how awful those were at pulling out hairs!) upside down on him... which i'm sure now was alarming painful for him at times. haha. and then i'd yell "WAKE UP!" and he would pop up, startled, cough, and i wouldn't immediately yell in his face "WHAT TIME IS IT?!!?!!?"

and he would say "...oh.. about a quarter past a freckle, just past a hair... HEY WAIT A MINUTE"

this was my childhood. he passed away years ago, while I was only in grade 7. My aunt, she fought, she continued with excessive volunteer work, for years. Now it was time.

I hope now they are finally reunited and dancing happily together...

UGH. didn't want to cry.

anyways.. this recipe card is of my aunts, one of the many things she did was bring us this nut mix in peanut butter jars... except it was insanely burnt.. but I think thats why all us kids have craved it consistently. & so, coming across this card, I decided to keep it on file, so I can cook for my siblings..

One aunt to another I guess...
