The Desk of Alden E. Miller
If you don't live in Oregon, you may not know that today it was cold and rainy or snowy all day, everywhere. Not conducive to outdoor picture taking. And if you have followed my tale, you know these are the waning days of my office and my job. Hence this desk. It has been my desk for about twenty years, a castoff as all our furniture is at legal aid. However, this desk came from the infamous Alden E. Miller, who was a good old boy lawyer here in Oregon City, back in the ancient 50's and 60's. Somehow he got the law library named after him, but the current librarian couldn't really pinpoint why it had his name. Anyway, since we are moving in a week, and since I am not moving, we have to get rid of this desk and I thought the library might want this important keepsake. No chance, they said, after they looked at this picture. I guess I didn't really paint it in its best light. But I have to say I will miss it. And the job. And the office.
