"One Horse Power"
Our walk today took us through 4 Working Woods in Suffolk namely:
Thorpe Wood
Bulls Wood
Monkspark Wood
Bradfield Woods
When we reached the first Wood being Thorpe Wood we came across two guys carrying out some pollarding work using a horse to drag the logs out onto the main paths. The reason that a horse is used is that it is able to get in between the trees which are not required to be pollarded, whereas a tractor would be far too wide and cause much more damage to the Wood floor than a horse. This was most interesting to watch and we found out that the horse actually belonged to the guy pictured in the blip.
A great walk on a beautiful day in good company 10.4 miles in total without a road in sight.
