Challenge 22
This is the gate entrance to Canterbury Cathedral... Strictly speaking, yes, this is wording and not numbers but this is what the Latin says:
opere constructum est anno Domini millesimo quingentesimo vicesimo
Which, in English, is literally translated to
work of construction in the year of our Lord one thousand five hundred and twenty
Now, I'll admit that the last part of this is curved around the edge and you can't read it, but after searching, this is possibly the bit that was built between 1517 and 1520 so I can only guess that the end date of construction would be what the Latin states.
If anyone local, or with photos of this side of the gates can confirm or correct this, I'd be really grateful so I can edit this!
