Red nettle day
Please *go large*
Red dead nettle - a simply beautiful wild flower! The violas have started to flower too! I've always wanted to do a wild week of flowers on here... perhaps this year I'll do it! I simply love wildflowers, you really can't do any better for nature, if you have even a tiny part of your garden set aside for wildflowers, the most incredible insects will visit & make their homes there! A small patch of birds foot trefoil will attract common blue butterflies, honesty will attract orange tip butterflies.... just think about it.... there will be blips on your doorsteps - literally! To help wildlife & help blipfoto too.... perfect combination! ;-)
Red dead nettles are loved by bumble bees & in fact in Nottinghamshire & Lincolnshire it was traditionally known as 'bumblebee flower'. Other names for it are Purple Deadnettle or Purple Archangel.
Oh & please click this link... you'll be sorry if you don't!

Grey clouds gathered of course & we've had heavy rain - but the ground does need it, it's been bone dry here now for a fortnight & the farmers are certainly complaining! :) xxx
