There are often people rootling in the bins round the back of the charity shops on a nearby street at all hours of day and night and occasionally a few jakeys sitting in doorways nearby but neither group seems to be responsible for setting off the burglar alarm in a premise a few doors away which went off last night at about ten past one. It probably only lasts about ten minutes before switching off but it seems a long time when it's woken you up. It usually only happens at weekends (perhaps when there are slightly more homeward-wobbling inebriates lurching against the door to set it off) when it matters slightly less but when it happens during the week I either have to fetch some earplugs or prepare to be thoroughly awakened. Whenever it happens I always mean to ring the place up and moan at them but usually get sufficiently distracted during office hours to forget. I'll try and remember to tomorrow as I also have a couple of buses to report at some point.
