Whooper Swan

Whooper swan (laulujoutsen) is Finland's national bird. It must really like it here because it comes so early here. All lakes are still covered with ice and snow.

This place is pretty close to our "country property" and there is a couple nesting here every summer. This is probably the couple. I heard the swans when I was in our place and drove with my Range Rover closer and was lucky to find these close to the shore. I crept and crawled until I was on the open but they didn't seem to mind me when I was totally flat on the ice.
