Emergency Magpie Blip
What a frustrating and weird day.
It all started yesterday afternoon, when my mum and dad were supposed to come down for a cuppa. I then got a frantic phone call from my mum saying they weren't coming, and dad was on his way to A&E having run over his foot with a lawnmower! It turned out to be quite serious, and he had actually chipped and fractured his toe. Luckily he suffered no nerve damage.
From the Royal Glamorgan hospital he was transferred to Morriston Hospital in Swansea, where they could do nothing yesterday, and he had to go back this morning at 8am. It is now half past six and we have just had a phone call to say he may be having surgery in the next hour. All this time, we have been on standby to go and fetch him, so today's blip was always going to be a garden bird!
On the plus side, we have ticked off a load of those household jobs you never get around to. We've put pictures up, tidied up the garden a bit, cleaned away some clutter... you know the kind of thing.
The Magpie are busy nest building beyond the hedgerow still, and the Blue Tits have been in and out of the nest box. I am awaiting the Robin pair to notice the new home I have put up for them.
All good fun!
