The Jim Birrell Sports Dinner

East End Park today after what seems like ages. Dunfermline didn't get that elusive first home win under a new manager but a decent performance and a draw puts us three points behind Hibs.

This time next week we will be at the charity sports dinner that we hold annually in Fife. It is in memory of my dad and a sports dinner was one of his favourite night's out. Was set up by the family and a few of dad's close friends and has raised over £50,000 for a range of causes and charities. I think he would be quite proud of the events that are held in his name.

Got some money as a birthday present this year and used it to sponsor two Dunfermline players and put the sponsorship in the name of the dinner. Dad was a Pars fan and both his nephew and father played for the club.

Most of the organisation for next week is done. Few bits and pieces for us to do but starting to look forward to it.
