Brigsteer Woods
Busy day. Builders merchants to buy wood for a new GP run.(tomorrows job). Then off to the spring meeting of the Lancashire Assoc of Village and community halls to give them 3/4 talk about how to get hands on funding that I manage. back home pick up lunch and rest of family then off to sooth Lakes visit Brigsteer Woods (NT property).
We go every year at this time to see the wild daffs. Mrs Wild reckoned that there were not as many this year, plenty of leaves but not many flowers. This has happened before, we have been so many times that reviewing past photos does show that the profusion of flowers does tend to be cyclic. It's a great place managed on traditional coppice basis with the wood in various states of maturity. Brimstone Butterflies on the wing today the Harbinger of true spring in my book. Then walked up Scout Scar in shorts and tea shirt it was that warm. if you go back thru my Blip around about this time of year this wood has featured before and also the view from Scout Scar. They say March has many weathers looking back over the years doing this walk has thrown up snow and blow and hail but never this warm as today.
