North Stoke Church

What a lovely Summer's Spring day! Had a walk on the South Downs with dog. Stopped off at North Stoke Church. I'm an unashamed heathen really, but I'm a sucker for a country church and they don't come much better than North Stoke. It stands at the end of a lane about a mile from the nearest B road and is pretty much unchanged since the 13th Century. The wall paintings have faded but you can still see traces of them. It must have been a riot of colour in its heyday. It is redundant as a church now but is maintained by the Churches Conservation Trust.

Walked over to South Stoke and then followed the river back to Houghton Bridge where we splashed out on an afternoon tea at the Riverside Cafe. A perfect day.

Tonight the Horsham Ukulele Owners Support Group will for the first (and quite possibly last) time assault the senses of a paying audience. Music lovers: you have been warned.
