Do not Ford

It started raining at about 8am yesterday morning, and as I write this now, it is still going strong. It was very heavy during the night as I can attest to as I was up three times during the night to go up in to the loft to stop the roof leaking. It was dripping on to our bedroom ceiling right above our heads, and with a combination of towels, cushions and loft insulation I managed on the third attempt to stop the drips. I hope my temporary fix lasts till Monday when the guy is coming back to fix the roof at the other side of the house next to the byre. His roofing priorities have now changed.
The picture is of the ford at the bottom of the hill and usually the river Allen trickels over it. You might just be able to spot a measuring stick on the left of picture (through the railings), earlier the water level was at 6 foot, but then the banks burst and it's at 3 foot now, all the rest of the water has flooded the woods, fields and road leading to it. Sinderhope bridge is also flooded, loads of roads are closed and the local agricultural show has been cancelled for the first time in it's history. When will it ever stop.
