Buxton, gateway to the Peak District.

We had a drive up to Buxton as it was such a lovely day today. That was after getting up late because the clocks had changed, doing some paperwork, washing the car and dropping off a birthday card for a friend!

My blip shows part of Buxton's "Crescent" which is a Grade 1 listed building. It was built for the 5th Duke of Devonshire between 1780 and 1789.

Buxton is famous as a Spa Town and the Crescent faces the site of the ancient St. Anne's Well, where now stands a public drinking spout (built around 1940).
People still "take the waters" in Buxton but they are now more likely to fill up a plastic bottle than actually bathe in it.
