Fog/Haar/Mist

Take your pick. Never really been sure what the difference is between any of those three terms.

Whole family went for a walk in the Pentlands. Most peculiar day: really quite hot and muggy. It was clear on the ridge but really foggy in either direction - could only just make out Arthur's Seat and couldn't see the castle, Forth or Fife at all.
