Can't work with this noise

This is what's happening just a few metres from where I sit at work, right beneath the window of my office. Contractors are drilling into the structure to fix the supports for the new structural steel roof which will cover the courtyard. The noise is unbearable and it is vibrating through the whole building. How are we supposed to work in this?
