You should watch out for the Blowfish......
.....I was quite nervous this morning. The plan was to drive down to Australind to visit my cousin Suzanne. We haven't seen each other since she was 12. Having emigrated when she was very young, she returned briefly for a holiday at 12, and that was the last time we spoke. The journey down the Kwinana Freeway afforded us some interesting views of the hinterland and coastal route. Great excitement when we spotted our first 'unique to Australia' animals.....camels.....eh?
We arrived in the foreshore just as my cousin and her partner Gary turned-up. She was expecting a lunch date and was somewhat surprised to be greeted by me. (I'll thank you to keep your sarcastic thoughts inside your heads). I needn't have been nervous as we quickly slipped into familiar conversation, sharing stories and mutual memories of our childhood. As we sat discussing ancient history, Owen stripped-off and played in the Leschenault Inlet, which Gary warned us had the occasional ray and blowfish. Later, Gary mentioned that Nurse Sharks sometimes patrol the waters....."Owen, time to come out of the water".
It was a lovely day and the bonus was meeting Courtney, Suzanne's daughter. I have now met all of my close and extended family down under.
When home, we set about creating super pizzas with Owen and Levi. It was largely successful, but not without the odd mishap. Stig trying to bag a shark.
