Old Marina, New Marina.
Another beautiful unseasonally sunny day in Scarborough and I managed a few minutes down by the harbour where as children we played happily for hours: on the piers and jetties, under the piers and jetties, and in the mud at low tide.
Scarborough harbour is actually two harbours. Old photos show both harbours packed full of working boats, both fishing and cargo.
by the 1950's the smaller outer harbour on the left of this collage was used mainly by leisure boats and yachts, with very minimal facilities and no access at low tide, while the inner harbour was still very much a working harbour.
The recent building of modern marina facilities in the centre of the inner harbour relegated the working boats to the Vincent pier, the Fish pier and the North Wharf.
