El Cigarral de la Santa

Extraordinary garden in the middle of the city, dedicated to Saint Teresa of Jesus.
The poet Eduardo Marquina visited it in 1922 and wrote this poem that says something like that on the way to heaven, the soul trains its wings here with the help of the walls that limit the view and the tree branches, that drive the look to the sky.

Corazón entre estos árboles
sosiega y descansa;
alma, camino del cielo,
desde aquí, adiestra tus alas.
Piensa, quienquiera que seas
el que aquí estés entre tapias,
que, para que no tropiecen,
se han de elevar las miradas;
las cercas te las detienen
y te las guían las ramas,
que es mirador de los cielos
el Cigarral de la Santa.
