Sporting Relief
As a family we are trying to undertake some charity events where possible, in a hope that it gives the children an understanding of how fortunate they are and how they, even at a very young age can help others. Granted most of this goes over their heads but it is a good habit to get into and is nice family time.
So today we headed down to the Mountbatton Centre to run our four laps of the running track. We got there nice and early, met some friends and had a picnic whilst watching some others do their laps. When it came to our go we set out in middle of the pack and once under way moved straight to the back. Boy needed a fair amount of carrying especially at the end when he fell asleep in my arms. Girl did really well, completing the whole mile under her own steam with her friend, they even raced in at the end.
We did not rival any Roger Bannister times with our 45 minute mile but we finished all the same and got our medals. Boy getting his placed over his sleeping head was a highlight.
Following all this fun we got some fresh air and had a veggie BBQ on the beach with more friends before heading home exhausted for bed.
