No Gelato?

After a round of golf, we visited our local gelato shop only to be disappointed by Marco, apologizing that he had no gelato. The compressor was broken. This Italian ice cream maker from Bologna manages the one year old shop, and told us that a new compressor was on its way from Italy and would arrive on Wednesday.

The store had not been open on Saturdays because it is the owner's sabbath and he was concerned that God would punish him for working on this day of the week. Marco finally convinced him to get special dispensation from his religious leader because Saturday is the most popular day to have gelato. He finally got permission. His first Saturday was St Patrick's Day. On Friday night, he made 20 flavors including special Guinness and Murphy's gelato. Shortly after sundown, the temperature of the compressor started to rise. By morning, the compressor died and the gelato had melted. When Marco gets to this part of the story, he shrugs!!!

Here is a wonderful jazz singer from Northern Italy, not too far from Bologna.

The next in the series of "The Houses of Wilmington" will be posted later in the week.
