No, not a major bike accident, just a much needed rest stop. The Rosedale Ride: 62 miles of endless fields. The ride benefits the Rosedale school, a public school for individuals with multiple disabilities. The only one like it in the Austin area. Many students who attend have severe or profound disabilities or are medically fragile.
As a grad student in special education with a concentration in developmental disabilities, I was mighty proud to ride/support and see the volunteers, many who were teachers and parents. How wonderful that they are able to give their time to this event.
On a slight side note, I'm beginning to really enjoy the cycling experience. Of the three tri disciplines, it has always been my least favorite. But like anything I've put time into, once you get over the initial dislike, it quickly turns into a love that can only be described as a passion rather than a hobby. Love for the "soul" of the activity, not for any ancillary reason otherwise. Till this day, I still consider my self "a person who happens to run marathons" even though by others' standards participating in 5 marathons makes you a "marathoner"....
