Charities Day #1

Thursday is the annual Charities Day at the children's school.

The theme is Kings & Queens, inspired by The Diamond Jubilee. It is in aid of the Shooting Star charity.

They are supposed to go dressed up. There are several interpretations of the theme afoot - one child I know is planning on dressing as a star. One as Queen Victoria. One mother is making an historically accurate 1953 outfit for her daughter in homage to the Coronation year. One seven year old (blonde) is apparently coming as Kate Middleton (wearing what? Regular clothes?) Al was planning on wearing his Slytherin robes in a sort of Arthurian interpretation of Kings and Queens.

Betsy was planning on going in jeans because she doesn't like being told what to wear, and particularly can't stand anything princessy. Last year she wore a grey trilby, jeans and a Ramones t-shirt and the theme was Insects.

Today they told them at school that they had to dress up or wear uniform. Betsy told Al that his robes would be too hot, so a double re-think was needed. Genius Betsy came up with decorating t-shirts with fabric pens.

Betsy's is a Union Jack with Charities Day 2012 on the back. Al's is a crown and the words 'King Al of Stanley.
