Egret

Every spring we would have huge populations of egrets building their nests on the lagoon in Audubon park. Last year they came, built their nests, laid eggs and then mysteriously and suddenly left before the eggs hatched.

Predators or the growing number of black bottomed whistling ducks were thought to be the cause of their disappearance.

There were four last week building nests but they were gone two days later.

Now to see one is a treat.
