Cheeky Charlie the blackbird

Cheeky has become Cheeky Charlie. He accompanies me when I am digging and planting in the back yard. I am sure this is because we have developed a deep mutual respect for each other not because I keep digging up worms. My soil is very wormy. He has a mate but she is much shyer.

He is posing next to a hemerocallis - a day lily that I have split from last year. It is looking a bit raggy now but I am sure it will be OK when it clumps up a bit.
