Come Back And Finish What You Started II
Looks familiar ...
The view through the new gates on the distillery site next door. We've been through all sorts with this site, surprise, hope, confidence, confusion, disappointment, despair. The original developers went bust in 2010 and it's in the hands of the receivers now.
There's been a flurry of activity recently and some builders are back in town. A couple of weeks ago, permission was granted to demolish one of the two original (originally beautiful) listed distillery buildings. It was a shame but it was beyond repair and putting anyone off buying/developing the site. Letters to the cooncil from the managing agent said that repairing a crumbling listed building would be so costly that developers would not touch it. Now it's gone and they (who? someone ...) have started to repair the remaining building, scaffolding is up and the roof is being pimped. Hopefully, now there'll be new interest in developing the land and some progress might be made. It's truly an eyesore and bringing the whole place down.
