Move toward change
There is no secret that when the Kindle first came out, I was 100% against this new technology. The idea of reading a book on a small computer screen, the need for battery power, can't get it wet, can't read it in bright sunlight.... who would want that? Then the technology improved, and with these improvements came more interest, leading to a decline in paperback and hardcover book sales. The recent closure of Mr. Paperback & Borders book stores has made it increasingly difficult to find books. I'm saddened by the whole movement.
In signing up with Dish Network, we were given an Amazon.com gift card. Knowing that the convenience of going to our local book store would soon be a thing of the past, BJ and I discussed the idea of purchasing a Kindle Fire. Despite my defiance of this technology, I agreed to move toward change.
I must admit that it does have some pretty cool features, and it's use will be quite handy when we're away from home or traveling. BJ has already downloaded his Star Wars books and enjoyed reading in bed with it's backlight feature. I've found some great books available for free download... and we all know how much I love Free! Perhaps I'll learn to love the kindle?
